I recommended two movies in class The Social Network and Catfish. Has anyone seen them? Do you have any recommendations for me?

I saw The Social Network when it came out in the theatres. It was a fascinating look at Facebook's short history, including the bickering between Mark Zuckerberg and the two other guys (brothers) as to who got credit for the idea.

As far as movies on social media specifically, I don't have any recommendations. But on the general subject of computers, a scary, thought-provoking movie is "Artificial Intelligence," produced by Steven Spielberg.

I have not seen either movie. Is Catfish supposed to be a documentary?

I love the movie - I, Robot. Not really social media, but maybe the future of AI.

I have not watched either movie, but I remember a movie that was "internet" related in 1995. The Net, with Sandra Bullock.

That movie really gets you thinking about privacy and identity theft.

I saw "The Social Network" a couple of months ago. I enjoyed seeing how Facebook began and boomed as well as the close-up look at Mark Zuckerberg's personality that the movie provided. As he was portrayed in the movie, he always seemed rather emotionally disconnected, like someone who marched to the proverbial "different drummer." I have not seen "Catfish."

A suspenseful movie that has something of a technological side to it is "Unstoppable." It is the story of a runaway train that had me sitting on the edge of my seat throughout. I recommend it!

I watched The Social Network over the weekend. While the background it gave was interesting, I found the movie pretty sad. It does a great job of capturing the social ineptness, Spectrum-like behavior of Mark Zuckerberg, as well as his "code monkey" genious and focus. But the social demands of transforming his creation into a business were beyond his skill set, and I thought the movie became disjointed did a poor job of portraying this when it moved to California.

While it is hard to separate the adversarial atmosphere of a lawsuit and the history leading up to it, the treatment of his best friend/ partner seemed really brutal. It is ironic that a movie about the creation of a program that facilitates social connection should be an outgrowth of so much anger and discord.

I don't have any movie recommendations. Leah

I saw "The Social Media" a while ago. It was interesting to find out how Facebook started. I don't follow much of how this or that get started, but it seems to me that whenever something turns into a success, there will usually be someone who blames another person of stealing their ideas. And then the lawsuits follow. I have not seen "Catfish".

I really don't have any movie recommendations.

I saw the first thirty minutes of, "The Social Network" before I feel asleep. My friend keeps bugging me to see the whole movie.

I have not seen "Catfish".

I recommend the movie, "The Net". It is crazy how much of our lives are online and how they could be affected.

I enjoyed "social network" movie a lot more than I initially expected. I highly suggest anyone to watch this. It's not about Facebook, it's about the people who made it - which is a great story (depending on how you look at it).

I have not seen movie "catfish".

I have not seen this movie "Pirates of Silicon Valley". But trailers and reviews sounds like it is similar "social network".

I have indeed seen The Social Network. I appreciated it for its realism and held its own with the story. Overall, a really good movie and a bit inspiring.
However, I have not seen Catfish.
Similar movie to The Social Network you might like would be 21 and Hackers. Similar but steer more the the illegal side on the money gaining process.
